Is Your District Eligible for Our Grant?
Are You Ready?
How many average meals do you serve at your schools? The 6 foot (five well) salad bar package is intended for locations that are serving at least 100 reimbursable meals.
Is your district ready to implement salad bars as part of your reimbursable meal? To qualify for the Let's Move Salad Bars to Schools grant you must offer the salad bar as part of the reimbursable meals served in your district.
If the answer is Yes! - The Food Services Department should apply for a salad bar package grant from Let's Move Salad Bars to Schools!
Who Should Apply?
The Food Services Director who oversees all meal services for your district is required to be the contact person for this grant.
If your location uses a contract management company, is a charter or independent private school district and is not connected to a district, whoever oversees your meal program; reports meal counts to the National School Lunch Program and manages meal planning, preparation and delivery in your district will be the "Applicant Contact" for your district.
The grant process requires signing a grant contract which you will scan or fax and upload to your application in order for your district to be considered for a grant. Signatures required will be those of the food service director and the district superintendent.
Award Criteria
Grant awards will be based on a numeric rubric combining scores for: potential for impact based on the district's free/reduced percentage, the number of HUSSC awarded schools, and level of preparation to implement based on application answers. When funding is available salad bars are awarded by of date of application approval combined with HUSSC status and potential for impact.
